On a bright, sunny day on Saturday, April 26 we inaugurated Burnaby Mountain’s brand new 7,000 sq. ft. putting green with the Best Putter in Burnaby event. Over 100 people came out to compete for the title, with the contest ending in a sudden death putt-off. The winner was Jody Li, a top Canadian junior golfer who has been playing at Burnaby Mountain since she was 4.

“Going into the contest, I was ready to win myself the putter of my dreams.  Knowing that there were over 100 contestants and mostly adults, I was determined to use my skills to win this contest as the green was very challenging.  It was so much fun to play along many others and I was using one of the demo putters too!  When all the scores were in, I was pleasantly surprised about the fact that I was going to play in a sudden death playoff. With only one more competitor to go, I was ready to earn my putter and that’s exactly what I did. It was a mixed of feelings, I was proud of myself, and I was very grateful to have that opportunity to get that putter.  Thank you to Golf Burnaby for hosting this amazing event.  I started golf at Burnaby Mountain when I was 4 and it's nice to earn the title of Best Putter in Burnaby when I'm 11." - Jody Li

This friendly, festive event also featured draw prizes and the latest putters from Callaway, PING and Titleist. Thank you to everyone who came out to this event!
