We offer a variety of learning options year-round, providing you with the flexibility to schedule sessions at your convenience. We understand the importance of accommodating your busy schedule, and our goal is to be as flexible as possible, ensuring that you can learn and refine your golf techniques when and how you prefer. Choose from small group lessons to personalized one-on-one private or semi-private lessons, workshops and more! 

Approach to learning 

Our goal at Golf Burnaby is to make the game as easy as possible to learn, to enjoy and to play for a lifetime. Our instructors are all members of the Professional Golfers' Association of Canada (PGA of Canada) and we're dedicated to providing every student with an understanding of the fundamentals of golf in a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment!

Private and semi-private lessons

For lesson schedule and to register for private or semi-private lessons, please call the golf course where you plan to take your lessons. Remember to bring your own golf gear if you have it, and please arrive 15 minutes early. Both driving ranges have covered and dry areas, and are not affected by poor weather. But if you’re ever unsure, feel free to check with our pro shop. 

If you need to cancel from the program, just let us know 72 hours in advance. If you are sick, please call the pro shop and stay home. Your lesson will be rescheduled (or credited) without penalty.

Junior beginner courses

This 4-week program is designed around “play”. This program aims to empower and enrich each child with games that introduce putting, shipping and full swings. These games help develop skills and prepare the student to take the next step and advance their golf game.

Fee: $120 + tax

This 4-week program is thoughtfully designed around games and activities that introduce putting, chipping and full swings that captivate experience, encourages exploration and engagement with the game of golf. Through empowerment and enrichment, the athlete develops skills, so they are ready for the next step when the time is right.

Fee: $180 + tax

This 4-week program introduces new golfers to the fundamental aspects of the sport; putting, chipping, full swing and play while emphasizing etiquette and safety. Participants will explore a new skill in each class. Sessions 1, 2 and 3 are conducted at the practice facility at the golf course while the fourth session is at the pitch and putt.

Fee: $180 + tax

Junior intermediate courses

This 4-week program develops putting, chipping, pitching, full swings and enforces proper posture, balance, alignment, club path awareness and pivot. With the focus of this session on “play”, the program helps develop speed, mobility and stability while integrating sports that involve throwing, striking and wrist release to enhance skill comprehension. Golfers in this program are expected to play a minimum of 9 holes and practice 2 hours per week on top of their lesson times.

This 4-week program is designed to prepare players for tournament play. Designed for juniors ages 11-14, participants focus on the rules of golf, identifying their own shot patterns and course management strategies. While competition is the focus, we emphasize fun, friendship and teamwork. Tailored to align with players development stage, this program introduces topics like building a shot library and how to practice deliberately, mixed with activities enhancing speed, mobility and awareness.

Fee: $180 + tax

This 4-week program hones skills that ready the golfer for tournament play. Participants engage in drills and games to refine their golf skills, concentration, course strategy and fitness. Players are expected to play a minimum of 27 holes and practice 3 hours per week on top of the session time. Sessions 1, 2 and 3 are conducted on the practice facilities and session 4 is on the golf course.

Junior golf camps

This 4-day camp is designed around “play” for the new golfer and is our fist stage of our junior camp program. Through games and activities aimed to create a captivating experience, encouraging exploration and engagement with the game of golf. Session 1, 2 and 3 are conducted at the practice facilities and session 4 is at the Pitch and Putt.

Fee: $180 + tax

This 4-day camp is designed for our second stage of our junior camp program. Golfers will develop putting, pitching and full swings with an emphasis on posture, balance, alignment, club/path awareness and pivot. Sessions 1, 2 and 3 are conducted on the practice facilities and session 4 is on the golf course.

This 4-day camp is designed for our third stage of junior camp program. Designed to prepare golfers for tournament play, participants learn about the rules of golf, identify their own shot patterns and on course management strategies. While competition is the focus, we also emphasize the importance of having fun, making friendships and creating teamwork. Created to align with the players development stage, the program introduces topics like building a shot library and how to practice deliberately. Sessions 1, 2 and 3 are conducted on the practice facilities and session 4 is on the golf course.

Adult group lessons

This 5-lesson series introduces the skills and basic understanding needed to start enjoying the game of golf. These lessons focus on building the golf swing, learning to putt and chip and conclude with 9 hole on course lessons with your golf instructor. These lessons teach you golf terminology, equipment needs, rules, etiquette and scorekeeping. The first 4 lessons are at Riverway or Burnaby Mountain and the final lesson will be at either Central Park or Kensington Pitch and Putt.

This 6-lesson series is designed for golfers with previous lessons and or playing experience. This program will explore opportunities to improve technical skills by learning new approaches to the game. You will receive clear directions and feedback to help you get direct results from your practice. During this 6-week commitment to golfing excellence you will explore putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play, full shots and partial shots.

Fee: $250 + tax

This 9-lesson series program investigates the foundation of your game and challenges the golfer to move to a more competitive level. This program starts and concludes with a 9 hole test that demonstrates improved performance. The second lesson the golfer will complete a club fitting, a thorough examination of your golf swing using technology that measure club and ball data, ground force reaction which will optimize repeatability. This series builds competitive skills and mental stamina required for golf at this level.

Adult golf swing workshops

This 3-lesson series is a great follow up to the “Starter Hut” program. This program will focus on technique, looks at opportunities to achieve optimal distance, control ball flight and creating solid contact.

This 3-lesson series is a great follow up to “Starter hut”. This program will focus on developing chipping, pitching and bunker play. The program introduces concepts that allow for controlling ball results. You will learn sound decision-making skills, apply the proper technique, create solid contact, and control ball flight to achieve the desired results.

This 3-lesson series is a great follow up to “Starter Hut”. This program will focus on lowering scores through improved putting techniques. The program teaches the golfer how to control distance and direction. Learn to read greens, choose the right targets, start the ball o line, control speed and make more putts.

Adult golf camps

This 4-lesson series runs consecutively and is designed to immerse the golfer in learning, practicing and playing. Each session addresses your swing and ball striking improvement opportunities as we as short game skills. The program visits putting, chipping, pitching and sand play. Day 1, 2 and 3 include 18 holes of golf, while day 4 features a 9-hole playing lesson with your golf instructor.

Fee: $700 + tax

In our community

As part of our ongoing commitment to being more accessible in our community, Golf Burnaby is committed to introducing the game of golf to students through our partnership with the Burnaby School District. Our goal is to help students learn the basics and spark their interest in learning more about golf and improving their skills. We offer lesson programs for high school students. Over the past 14 years, more than 16,000 high school students have taken part in the community outreach golf program.

More about the program

  • program is offered to grade 10 students
  • instructions are led by at least 2 instructors, at least one PGA of Canada professional (all instructors have passed a criminal records check)
  • program consists of 4 lessons: introduction to the basics of golf and the golf swing, putting, chipping and full swing
  • introductory lessons are held at either the school or one of the Burnaby courses
  • a fee of $10 per student is charged to cover the costs of balls, rental equipment and instruction
